The following applies to new construction (commercial and residential), residential additions and remodels, and commercial tenant improvement(s).

Where do I go?

2850 Via Orange Way
Spring Valley, CA 91978
Please ring upstairs using the button to the left of the double doors marked "San Miguel Administration" and proceed to the second floor. We are open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Please note we close from 12 to 1 pm for lunch, and are closed weekends and major holidays.

What do I need to bring?

2 sets of plans

These should be your sets already stamped by the County. If your plans conform to Fire Code and are approved, we will add our stamp. If they are not approved, we will provide a detailed correction directive. You will need to resubmit your corrected sets for a resubmittal to get stamped.

Fire Mitigation Fees Form

Issued by the County for projects including new square footage exceeding 300 sq. ft.

San Miguel Fire & Rescue conducts all commercial and residential plan checks for our 50+ square mile service area. Turnaround time is up to 4 weeks. We will email once your plan check has been completed, and will advise the total due upon pick-up. We are unable to process electronic or card payments, so please be prepared to pay for your plan check via check, money order, or exact cash.

For stamp transfers and resubmittals, please bring one old (stamped) set of plans along with two new sets.

How long will it take?

All plans will need to be left for review and we ask that you allow 7 business days for your plan check to be completed. "Over the counter" plan checks are not available.

How much will it cost?

Click on Plan Check Fees below and locate your project type. Note that new construction projects will also be charged a mapping fee to cover the cost of updating our mapping system to reflect your project.
