The Knox Box Program provides San Miguel Fire & Rescue with a quick and easy means to access a secured building or area during an emergency. It also minimizes potential costly repairs caused by forcible entry and allows the building to be re-secured quickly and easily. When access is difficult for emergency responders, the fire department is authorized to require a Knox Box or Key Switch to be installed in an approved location. (CFC 2025, Section 506)

KnoxBox® makes lock boxes and gate switches that allow rapid access for emergency responders. Residents and business owners can order products directly from Knox following the directions below.

FOR GATE ITEMS

For gate items like automatic gate switches and padlocks:

1. Go to Knoxbox.com and Click "Start Here" in the top left corner.
2. Click "Search for your Department or Agency Name".
3. Select "California" as the State. Type "Heartland Mutual Aid / San Miguel" as the Department Name.
4. Select "Heartland Mutual Aid / San Miguel" and click "Confirm Department".
5. Add the product(s) to your cart and follow website checkout instructions. Note: You will need to provide an installation address.

FOR ALL OTHER PRODUCTS

For all other products like commercial or residential key boxes:

1. Go to Knoxbox.com and Click "Start Here" in the top left corner.
2. Click "Search for your Department or Agency Name".
3. Select "California" as the State. Type "San Miguel Consol FPD" as the Department Name.
4. Select "San Miguel Consol FPD" and click "Confirm Department".
5. Add the product(s) to your cart and follow website checkout instructions. Note: You will need to provide an installation address.
